Sally Bevington, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and the undeniable matriarch of our family, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless memories.
Sally believed family was forever, and she made sure we all knew it. Because of her, our family still gathers regularly, plays games, shares stories, and stays connected. She was the glue that held us together and the reason so many of our favorite traditions exist today.
She was loving, selfless, fun-loving, and just the right amount of feisty. Sally would do anything for anyone, but she was also known for telling it like it was. If you asked for her opinion, you'd better be ready to hear it. Her honesty, quick wit, and sense of humor made her the life of every party and one of the most unforgettable people you could ever meet.
Sally met the love of her life, Jim Bevington, in Arnolds Park, Iowa, and together they built a life centered on love, family, and fun. They raised five children: Jamie, Teresa, Mike, LeighAnn, and Rob. Nothing made Sally prouder than her family, and she fiercely loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was happiest when everyone was together.
Sally also loved her friends like family and collected friends everywhere she went. She was blessed with three sisters, Betty, Lois, and Mary, and three brothers, Bill, Bill, and Jack, who helped make life full of stories, laughter, and a little bit of mischief.
Sally loved a good mystery novel, a challenging puzzle, Denver sports, and just about any game that involved winning. Whether it was Dogopoly, Rummikub, Irish Poker, or cards around the kitchen table, she was always ready to play. She faithfully cheered for the Nuggets, Avalanche, and Broncos and knew the players better than some of the commentators.
She enjoyed gambling so much that if Sally couldn't be found, the family's first question was often, "Did anyone check the casino?"
Sally adored animals and loved every family pet as if it were her own. She even had a soft spot for Alley, the alligator who lived behind her home in Orange Beach, Alabama. She loved beautiful irises, Taco Bell Enchiritos, and spending time with the people she loved most.
A former homecoming queen and high school basketball player, Sally carried her charm, confidence, and competitive spirit throughout her life.
To know Sally was to love her. She made people laugh, made people feel welcome, and made life more fun. Though we will miss her deeply, we will carry her lessons, her laughter, and her love with us always.
And if heaven has a casino, we're pretty sure she's already found it.
She will be forever loved and never forgotten.
