May 5, 1935 – September 29, 2014
Stan was born in New Rockford, North Dakota. During his youth, his family moved to Salem Oregon and then Phoenix Arizona. He graduated from North Phoenix HS. He attended Arizona State College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Utah. He was an accomplished architect and his life long career took him to New York, New Mexico and Colorado. Both buildings and interiors were enriched by his talents. Stan’s courageous life was lost to cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Erma. He is survived by his sister Carole Trowbridge and her sons, Lee and Steve. He will be missed dearly by his many cousins, Aunt Mildred Olson, Uncle Harlan Crawford and countless friends.
Stan touched more lives than he will ever know. He had many gifts: the gift of friendship, the gift of gab, the gift of love and the gift of forgiveness. He was extremely outgoing and made people, including total strangers, comfortable and at ease. Stan would light up a room with his presence. With his smile, his cheery hello, his bouncy energy and his laughter, you always knew when Stan was present. He relished playing games and cards. His LIVENOW attitude was infectious. He encouraged his friends to seek their happiness and challenged them to grow and face their fears.
Stan journeyed to 55 countries in his retirement. He was especially drawn to humble Asian and African communities. He volunteered in orphanages and schools during some visits. He delighted in the laughter and wonder of the children he encountered. In Denver he was a devoted volunteer in the Children’s Hospital nursery.
Stan requested no services. His ashes will be spread in the Rocky Mountains where he loved to hike. He asked to be remembered by donations to support children with extreme needs through The Pamoja Project, PO Box 24307, Santa Fe NM 87502 http://www.pamojaproject.org
