

peacefully on, October 21, 2023, at the age of 88 years in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Sydney was born November 3, 1934 into the family of Sidney Bramwell Sr. and Margret
Elizabeth Funkhouser in McGrew, Nebraska. He was the sixth child of nine and the last to be
born at home. Syd loved the great outdoors and spent a lot of his childhood playing outdoor with
siblings. Syd’s family moved from Nebraska when he was nine years old to Golden Colorado.
Sydney graduated from Lakewood High School in May of 1952. When Syd was in High School
he took 3rd in the State Wrestling Championship. Sydney married Elinor A. Nigey, on February
5, 1956 in Golden, Colorado. Elinor and Sydney were married 51 plus years with Elinor passing
away in 2007. Sydney and Elinor were the proud parents of two children, a daughter Linda and a
son Michael. Sydney married his second wife Wilma Black on December 29, 2012 in Mesa,
Arizona.
He joined the Army in February 1953 and was honorable discharged at the rank of Corporal on
February 1, 1956. Sydney was assigned to the artillery division of the 10th Mountain Division
Mule Brigade that trained mules to carry artillery during the Korean War. Syd’s mule was named
Sandy. After Syd was discharged he continued his service with the Army Reserves for another 5
years and was discharged in 1961. After military service Syd was employed by Western Electric
for a short time before joining Mountain Bell Telephone Company. He started his career as a
lineman climbing poles, repairing telephone line, installing new telephone line, in Kemmer
Wyoming. Syd worked for Mountain Bell for 34 years before retiring at the age of 55. Syd held
various positions completing his employment working as a manager in the finance department at
the downtown office of Mountain Bell in Denver Colorado. Sydney bought and built a home in
Montrose Colorado and enjoyed working the four acre lot. He and his wives were snowbirds,
traveling to Mesa Arizona where the enjoyed the warmer winters. He was an active member of
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was very active with the Boy Scouts of
America and served in his LDS Wards troops.
Sydney is survived by his spouse Wilma Black-Bramwell (Iowa), a brother, Gary Bramwell,
(Conifer,Colorado), a sister Donna Baker (Lakewood,Colorado). His daughter, Linda Kitzman
(Charles) Montrose, Colorado, his son Michael Bramwell (Kathy)Mesa, Arizona, grandson Jared
Criddle (Nicole) Clayton, North Carolina, granddaughter, Nicole King (Stephen) North Platte,
Nebraska, granddaughter, Kelli Boyd(Anthony) Commerce City Colorado, grandson, Scott
Bramwell (Sonora) Arizona, six great-grandsons, Rhett, James, Talon, Daniel, Jude, and Aaron,
and three great-granddaughters Natalie, Charlotte, and Lydia. Syd had several nieces and
nephews and cousins living throughout the country he is survived by. He is proceeded in death
by his beloved wife Elinor A. Bramwell (2007), his parents Sidney Bramwell Sr.(1976), his
mother Margaret (1985), two brothers, Eldon (Joe) (2000) and Lyle (2003), four sisters Marge
Buttermore (), Patricia Bramwell (2004), Audra Jean Decker (2011), and Lona Louise Bramwell
(2021) and two grandchildren Bryan Daniel Criddle (1992) and Kristine Michelle Criddle (1995).
A viewing will be held for Syd starting at 10:30am till 11:45am on November 3, 2023 at the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel located at 610 Coors Avenue, in Golden, CO.
Funeral services will follow the viewing at 12:00pm in the Chapel. Following the funeral
services burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, located at 7777 W. 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge
Colorado. Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services is handling the arrangements.
