Toni Ortega, 81, passed away on June 26, 2026. A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Toni will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude for a life that quietly inspired those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on June 13, 1945, in Loveland, Colorado, Toni grew up as one of twelve children of Andres and Josephine Vasquez. After graduating from high school, she moved to Denver, Colorado, where she built the life and home that would become the heart of her family.
On October 18, 1969, Toni married Thomas Ortega in a small ceremony in Loveland, Colorado. After coming to Denver, they were married in the Catholic faith at the Cathedral Basilica of The Immaculate Conception, a reflection of the devotion that would remain central throughout Toni’s life. Together, Toni and Thomas raised their children, Rodney and Chris, and Toni’s steady presence and enduring love shaped the family in lasting ways.
When her children entered school, Toni began working as a teacher’s assistant. Even after her children left school, she continued in that role—an example of her consistent dedication and the quiet, meaningful ways she supported others day after day.
Faith was a guiding strength for Toni. She loved to pray the rosary, and her devotion offered comfort and grounding to those around her. She also shared a fondness for reading with her son, Chris; they often swapped books back and forth, a simple and cherished tradition that reflected the closeness of their bond.
Toni is survived by her husband, Thomas; children, Rodney (Bridget) and Chris (Erika); grandchildren, Monica, Manuel, Daniel, Lexi, and Kali; great granddaughters; and siblings, Julia, Mary, Jenny, Della, Linda, Helen, Carmen, Andrew, and Pete. Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Josephine; her siblings, Ivan and Betty; and her nephews, Eric, Andy, and Tim.
