William Horace Davis

Bill Davis was born August 23, 1930 in Longmont, CO. Bill’s days in high school centered around sports; he was a starter in football and basketball for his junior and senior years, and as a member of the track team he placed fifth in the State High School Championship in the 220-yard dash.

He joined the Army during the Korean War and had a successful sports career in the Army. As the draft had taken many accomplished athletes, there was great competition among the various teams of the bases. He was the quarterback for the Fort Richardson football team in Anchorage Alaska, which won the All Service Football Championship in 1952.

After his service in the Korean War he attended college where he got involved in sports going out for the wrestling team, and also played semi-pro baseball for a team in Salt Lake City the summer before starting college. He and was very proud to have been in the first graduating class from the newly-named Colorado State University where he met Nancy Service. He married Nancy in 1956 and had a long full life together. He worked for the Colorado Department of Labor for 38 years as the Training Manager and Field Director.

His kind and humble spirit, unique sense of humor and genuine love affected so many people. Wherever he traveled he would always know someone no matter where it was. He was a devoted Broncos fan and went to 2 Super Bowls, 3 Hall of Fame ceremony’s and attended just about every Bronco home game since the inception of the team. He attended games up until his mid-80s. He loved to travel the world and camp in almost every state with his wife and family. He never missed his grandkids events.

He was proceeded in death to twin sisters Margaret Ann (Leonard) and Marylin (Raymond), he was a dedicated brother to Dennis (Amy), a loving, caring father to sons Jeff (Jennifer) and Greg (Polly) and treasured his grandchildren Justine, Jennifer and Jarrod. Donations can be made in his name for St Michaels and All Angels church, Denver. Arrangements will be made at a later date.
