

Alan Harris, also known as Pop Pop, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Alan was born on December 7, 1937 and was 87 years old. He grew up in Manhattan, New York before crossing the bridge and meeting his beautiful wife Roberta in 1966.
Alan attended Queens College and received a degree in economics. He went on to serve two years in the United States Army as a surveyor based in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He received decorated commendations for sharpshooter and marksman. He worked in finance and analytics, was instrumental in the programming of the first computers at AT&T before retiring and moving to Lakewood, NJ in 2002.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Roberta (nee Orlando) and their two sons, David Harris and his wife Tiffany of New Milford and Christopher Harris of Lake Hopatcong. Pop Pop will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Dylan, Gavin, Lucas, and Gabriella and his grandpups… Rocco and Cooper. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Rubenstein of Oregon.
Alan loved wood working and you could always find him in his workshop building, fixing or tinkering. He enjoyed building models/replicas of ancient weaponry. Alan loved to travel, see the world, and explore new places. He was also an avid reader who enjoyed learning about history. He was an active member of his local community… holding many positions on the Board of Directors and the Contracts Committee, Grandparents Club, the Men’s Club, and he ran the sailing club. He loved all things outdoors, whether camping at Otter Lake, Hiking the Appalachian / Bear Mountain trails with his sons, skiing and sailing.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12 from 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm at D'Elia Funeral Home, Lakewood.
Funeral Services will take place at 12:30pm on Monday, August 18 at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. Please plan to meet the family at the cemetery at 12:00pm, services will begin promptly at 12:30 in the chapel.
