

Angelo J. Palermo, 82, passed away Wednesday at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Angelo was born in Newark and spent most of his life in East Newark before moving to Toms River for the past 20 years. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his service he attended Seton Hall University where he earned his BS in Business. Mr. Palermo used his degree to attain a job with Westinghouse as a manager for many years and later at ITT for 10 years before retiring. He was a member of the Ocean County Superior Court Judicial Volunteer Program, where he mentored juveniles. Angelo enjoyed the racetrack, namely the Freehold Raceway and his trivia. He was a selfless man who was loved by everyone and who devoted his life to his children and grandchildren.
Angelo is predeceased by his wife of 46 years Helen in 2006 and two sisters Jean and Min.
Mr. Palermo is survived by his two children James Palermo and his wife Desiree and Carol Granger and her husband Gary, two grandchildren, Kayla and Kimberly, two nieces Marianne and Lois, one nephew, John, and many friends.
Friends may visit Sunday, from 2-6pm at the D’Elia Funeral Home Route70 & Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 6, 2011 at St. Mary of the Lake RC Church in Lakewood. Cremation will be private.
