Annie "Chriss" McGowan

Annie Christine McGowan, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home Thursday September 21, 2017. Born January 21, 1932 in Killargue, County Leitrim Ireland, “Chriss” as she was known to all who loved her, was the 7th child born to Mary Clancy McGowan and Francis McGowan. Chriss immigrated to the United States in 1957 with her older brother “Willie” joining sisters Vera and Pat.

Chriss worked for United Merchants and Alpine County Club before retiring with her sister Philomena to Leisure Village East in Lakewood NJ. Chriss was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lakewood.

Chriss is survived by her beloved sister, Philomena, nieces, nephews, and their children. Chriss was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Mary McGowan; brothers, Lawrence and William; sisters, Mai Foley, Aileen Roycroft, Vera Peck, and Pat Schank.

Family and Friends will be received Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 2pm-6pm at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, September 25, 2017 at 12PM at St Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 43 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, NJ.
