Anthony Alfred Greco, age 95, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at the Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood, NJ. Anthony was born on November 11, 1921 in Palermo, Sicily. After an early childhood in Palermo, he came to the United States with his family in his seventh year, settling in Newark, NJ. He relocated to Pine Brook, NJ for 32 years, before moving to Toms River, NJ, 20 years ago. Anthony was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was a retired auto body repairman. Anthony was a communicant of St. Mary of the Lake Parish and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Lakehurst, NJ. He was active in the Italian Club of the Lake Ridge community, and he was an avid coin collector, gardener and bowling enthusiast. Predeceased by a 13 year old sister Mary in Sicily, Anthony was the brother of the late Cosmo and Vincent Greco and Ida Weiss. He is survived by his beloved wife Josephine; 3 children, Carl Greco of Toms River, NJ, Mark Greco and his wife Tina of Hillsborough, NJ, and Denise Greco and her husband Greg Luque of Blairstown, NJ; 2 sisters, Josephine Ricci of Cedar Grove, NJ and Mary of Dunnellon, FL; 4 grandchildren, Jacob Greco of Hillsborough, NJ, and Michelle Luque, Gregory Luque, and Matthew Luque all of Blairstown, NJ. Visitation will be Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home. Cremation will be private with the entombment of his cremated remains at a later date in the St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery Mausoleum, Lakewood, NJ.
