

Antonia DiGangi, age 81, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Manhattan, NY on December 22, 1933, she was raised in Astoria, NY, raised her own family on Staten Island, before retiring to Lakewood, NJ. As a devoted homemaker, Antonia exhibited an abundance of love and care that shined through her in every thought, word and deed. Passionately cooking for her family, providing invaluable advice and sharing her wisdom were among her immeasurable talents. Antonia adored the music of Barbara Streisand, and she was an enthusiast of classic movies, especially those starring Elizabeth Taylor. Her laughter, smiles and positive thoughts marked her as a phenomenally strong woman who left her impression upon everyone she met. Antonia passed along to her children her passionate pride of her Greek heritage which she embraced and celebrated at every opportunity. Predeceased by her husband of 56 years Edward, is survived by her three dear children, Edward DiGangi, Jr. and his wife Patricia, and John DiGangi, and Antonia (Toni) DiGangi Mullin and her husband James; her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 2200 Church Rd., Toms River, NJ 08753. Entombment will follow in Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge, NJ.
