Arthur Edward Rose, of Lakewood, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, April 8, 2018. He was born July 1, 1944 in Perth Amboy, to Corinne and Arthur Rose.

Art graduated from Edison High and went on to study at RCA Institute of Technology. Shortly after, he was drafted into the US Army. After serving in the Army, Art earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degree Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers University and volunteered on the Edison Rescue Squad. He then went on the work at Fort Monmouth, where he met and fell in love with Patricia Ann. They spent many of their 35 years together living in Howell and raising three children; Holly Slater of Ocean Township, Roxanne and Ryan Turner of Mount Airy Maryland, and Robert Rose of Asbury Park. He spent much of his time painting, reading, playing guitar, listening to music, learning karate, running, and attending many youth sporting events cheering on his children. During this time, he also attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and received a Master's Degree in Business Administration. He shared many great memories with his sister, Virginia Rose of Old Bridge, sister-in-law, Jane Grogan, cousins, nieces, nephew, and friends. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; Katherine Bennett, Cormac Turner, Benjamin Slater-Kelly, and Erin Rose Turner. He also took up gardening, enjoyed playing bocce, traveling, cooking for his wife with his fine selection of meats, and writing about the latest happenings in the world of politics. New to the neighborhood two years ago. I would sit outside and occasionally Art would work on his garden and say hello and give me some interesting artifacts about the birds, flowers and gardening. Art was proud of his flowers and enjoyed nature and was a friendly neighbor.
