Carole Gladitsch

Carole Gladitsch, age 86, of Lakewood passed away on September 17, 2022 at Complete Care at Laurelton in Brick. She was born in Jersey City to Harry N. Marotta and Christine Johnston Marotta Workman on December 22, 1935. Carole was a life-long summer resident of the Jersey Shore which had always been a favorite place to be. She retired to Leisure Village East in 1992.

Carole is a graduate of the New York Medical College, Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital School of Nursing. She also attended the Jersey City State College and University of Colorado. Carole’s professional career was in occupational health at Citibank in Manhattan.

Since living in Leisure Village East, she had been active in many Village activities. She served on the Leisure Village East Board of Trustees and also served as an area representative. Carole was a member of the Ladies Golf League, Pine Cone Garden Club, and Women’s Club, Quilter Group. She will be remembered for her quick wit and ready smile.

Carole is pre-deceased by her husband of 51 years, Joseph A. Gladitsch, her brother, David A. Marotta, and a brother-in-law, Anthony Wojcik.

She is survived by sister-in-law, Lillian (Cookie) Marotta of Laguna Niguel, CA, a nephew, David Johnston Marotta and his wife, Sandra of Foothills Ranch, CA, a niece, Joan McNamara and her husband, Thomas S. of Bayville, NY, a nephew, William J. Gladitsch and his wife, Catherine, a sister-in-law, Joan Gladitsch, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Audrey Gladitsch, sister-in-law, Grace Wojcik, and other nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, N.J. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by the interment of her cremated remains at the Brig. General Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
