Dolores L. Buck, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Born to the late Lillian and Joseph McLeer, Dee was raised in South Bound Brook, NJ and was a proud graduate of Bound Brook High School. She and her late husband, Guy, were longtime residents of Deal, NJ, where they lived for 46 years before settling in the Fairways at Lake Ridge in Lakewood, NJ.
Professionally, she worked in various administrative roles. She loved managing staff and interacting with customers. Dee was a real “people person”. She was extremely out-going and personable. She carried an incredibly positive outlook on life and rarely let others see her struggles, choosing instead to uplift those around her.
A woman of strong Faith, Dee was a devout and active parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, Deal and later, St. Luke’s Church, Toms River. She had a part in developing the infamous Gaudeamus fundraiser at St. Mary’s and looked forward to her Monday morning “money counting” and her Sundays as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Luke’s. Dee rooted avidly for her favorite teams, most especially, the Mets, Giants and Islanders! She loved to travel. Together with Guy, they shared many adventures at home and abroad. They were even named honorary citizens of Barbados because of their frequent, extended vacations there!
Dee’s devotion to her family was paramount. She adored quality time with her children, especially the careless summer days in the “friend circle” on the Deal beach. She was always present with a listening ear and heart-felt advice. She attended every game, show or special event that featured her kids. She enjoyed planning parties and never missed a gathering, a phone call or an opportunity to connect. She embraced the latest technologies and appreciated the chance to FaceTime or Zoom with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Dee looked forward to her weekly canasta games. In addition, she loved being a member of the “Red Hats” and “The Jersey Girls”.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Guy O. J. Buck.
Dee leaves behind her cherished children: Jay S. Buck and his wife Janet; Bonnie K. Napolitano and her husband Chris; Cindy B. Coulson and her husband Alan; Guy T. Buck and his wife Karen; and Brian S. Buck and his wife Cindy. She was the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved with her whole heart. Her treasured cat, Charlie, gave her many years of companionship and joy.
Dolores had a generous spirit and a special love for animals. Memorial contributions in Dolores’s memory may be made to The Popcorn Park Animal Sanctuary, 1 Humane Way, Forked River, NJ 08731, or www.ASPCA.org
