Dolores M. Chapter

December 16, 1926August 28, 2020

Our lives became much sadder when we all said goodbye to Dolores Chapter of Lakewood, NJ after 93 lively years. Dolores will be remembered by those that knew her as a wonderful and caring friend to all. Dolores was born and raised in Jersey City, moving to Edison for over 20 years and finally settling in the Original Leisure Village in Lakewood, NJ. Dolores retired from John Adams Junior High School after 20 years of service as the school nurse and later from the nursing field in 1994. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Lake Church and was a member of the St. Mary's Guild. Mrs. Chapter was very active in her community, serving as the secretary for the Nurse's Foundation. She loved to crochet and read, but her true passion in life was spending time with her loving family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed by all.

Mrs. Chapter is predeceased by her husband Stanley G., children, James Chapter, Neal Chapter and Jeannette Chapter Cheng and granddaughter, Christelleigh.

She is survived by her children, Glenn Chapter, Patricia Chapter and Kathleen Chapter, 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and sisters, Rosemary VanPelt and Janet Escudero.

Arrangements are under the direction of the D'Elia Funeral Home 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701. Cremation will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in Dolores' memory to the DEBORAH Foundation.

Dear Dolores , wonderful family,
When Cathy told me that you had died, I cried.
I said, she was a wonderful, caring ❤ woman.
When she told me that you said to the doctor,I want to go home meaning Heaven, I said that's beautiful!
With tears in my eyes,I smiled.
You didn't talk much, but you said a lot!
You are a very special friend that will be missed.
Love and God bless,
Madeline Rose 🌹Chiusano

Mrs. Chapter was much more than just my school nurse while I attended John Adams as she was also a good friend and a very early mentor. She was someone I could speak with about difficult situations while I attended school. I think she was also very proud of when I attended nursing school and became a nurse. While I was a nursing student she had me come to John Adams and talk to students.
She was also a family friend and she and my mom have stayed in contact all these years. I spoke with her for her last birthday and I cherish the memory of our last conversation. Heaven has gained someone who was an angel while alive. She will be missed.

I met Dolores when she became the school nurse at John Adams Junior High School where I was secretary to the assistant principal and that was a long time ago. We became fast friends and had such good times when we were together. She became an important person in my family's life as well.
After I moved to Florida Dolores was a frequent guest in our home and we always looked forward to her visits. My husband, David, enjoyed the talks and the sharing of ideas they engaged in. She was a real gem and will be missed more than we can express in mere words.
Rest in peace "Murph". We love you.

My grandmother had the ability to bring joy and true bliss into the lives of both my brother and I. We spent many summers together down on the shore. Whether walking the boards to Leo's or playing in the sand, we knew it would be ice cream on the way home with our Nanny. Now that Angels fly Nanny home, the family has two Matriarchs to hold up the pillars she once did. Thank you for everything Aunt Kathy and Aunt Patty. We love you.

Thank you Nanny for all the amazing memories with you, you were a kind hearted down to earth woman and I am so lucky I had you to look up to. I will miss being able to catch up, but at least now you can keep our family out of trouble in heaven, we love you, I love you, and I am so happy that I was able to hear your voice one last time. Thank you, and help guide us to the right path.

Mommy I am being strong today because you taught us how to keep our heads up. I have So much to say but the words are scrambled.
Our adventures and travels are too many to list, and the memories I have will someday bring a smile.
Not having our phone calls will be hard, but I'll still talk to you daily! (I've already picked the phone up twice to tell you a story)
My heart is full from all the Love you freely gave, yet empty since you left. I was so blessed to have had you here this long until God brought you Home.
Always on my mind, Forever in my Heart
I Love you Mommy
Your baby, Kathleen Mary

I will always hold dear to my heart, all of our conversations while I was there cleaning for you. Looking for lost remotes, only to find them under the couch when I vacuumed. I would always say to you that when I reached your age, I hoped that I would have as much energy as you. Walking to the bus stop for your outings. You enjoyed your life, your family and your friends. You will be missed and will be warmly remembered in my heart. Keep them busy in Heaven ! RIP dearest Dolores.
