Donald L. Beckman

Donald Lawrence Beckman, 85, of Toms River, NJ passed away on September 8, 2014 at home after an extended illness. Donald was born and raised in South Amboy, raised his family in Westwood and has for the past 19 years resided in Lake Ridge located in Toms River, NJ. Mr. Beckman served in the Army of Occupation in Japan between 1946-1947. He received his Electrical Engineering BS degree from Rutgers University and his Masters in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. He was an engineer at Bendix Corporation, retiring after 38 years of service. He also served as a councilman in Westwood for many years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Betty, his children Eric Beckman and wife Joanne, Warren Beckman and wife Betsy, Nancy Beckman, Richard Beckman and wife Jennifer. He also leaves behind his 7 grandchildren: Ariane, Emily, Austen, Jonathan, Allison, Stephen and Caroline, Sister-in-Law Carol Caragher and her husband Robert and Brother-in-Law John Gistedt and his wife Maureen. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 3PM to 6PM at D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 10:30AM at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ
