Born in Woodbridge, Dorothy lived most of her life in Fords before moving to Monroe Township, then Tinton Falls and, finally, to Lakewood.
“Dot” as she was affectionately known was celebrated for her wonderful sense of fun and for her community involvement. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy for many years, serving as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher. Dorothy was also president of the women’s group, a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Fords VFW Auxiliary, and a P.T.A. member for many years.
Dorothy held various jobs; her last one was as a medical assistant which she loved. She was a big fan of her alma mater Woodbridge High School and its football team and band. She owned cats and dogs all her life and loved her “four-leggeds”, as she called them.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Milton, her parents Carl and Esther Sundquist, her brother Carl Sundquist, Jr. and her grandson Aaron Bennett.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Janice and John Hutchison of Lakewood, Kenneth Lund of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Sally and David Bennett of Parma Heights, OH and Audrey Lund of Bluffton, SC. She had five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A Visitation will be Sunday, December 3rd from 2-5 p.m. at D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, followed by a memorial service at 5 p.m.
