Eddie Nelson Mendez, Sr.

Eddie Nelson Mendez, Sr., age 57, of Lakewood, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Fountain View Care Center in Lakewood, New Jersey. Eddie was born in Lakewood, New Jersey to Gloria Hernandez and Lino Mendez, and he was a life long area resident. He was a hard worker who retired after a career in construction services. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed his music as "D.J. Babalou."

Eddie is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn Ruiz; his children, Eddie N. Mendez, Jr.; Diana Mendez; and Michael Mendez; his father, Lino Mendez; his siblings, Freddie Mendez, Alex Mendez, Jackie Ramirez, David Mendez, Joel Mendez, Jeffery Mendez, Eric Mendez and Matthew Mendez. Eddie is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Eddie was preceded in death by his mother Gloria Hernandez.

Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00pm & 7:00-9:00pm on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am on Friday, March 10, 2023 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
