Edith Elizabeth Coffey

Edith Elizabeth”Betty” Coffey passed away peacefully at Harrogate Health Center in Lakewood, NJ. She was born December 30, 1926, daughter of Albert Prunier and Margaret McElligott Prunier in Jewett City, CT. Surviving are two sons: William Coffey (Janet) of South Windsor, CT and David Coffey (Maija Birenbaum) of New York, NY.; three daughters: Christine Risk Vice of Malone, NY, Mary-Beth Coffey (Christopher Williams) of Orange, CT and Kelly Robicheau (Gary) of Whiting, NJ; a son-in-law Patrick Boney of Hutchinson Island, FL; 14 grandchildren: Jennifer, Lauren, Benjamin, Chrissey, Christopher, Kevin, Amy, Casey, Andrea, Lisa, Scott, Matthew, Andrew and Ryan; and 11 great-grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her husband of forty-five years, John Joseph Coffey, daughter Deborah Boney and son and daughter-in-law John Coffey(Lorraine) formerly of Bethany, CT. She also was predeceased by a granddaughter Paige Risk Evans.

Betty lived her married years in Norwich, CT followed by North Haven, CT and lived the past nine years in Lakewood, NJ at Harrogate Assisted Living. While at Harrogate she was a member of the welcoming committee and general store. She enjoyed gardening, participating in aquacise classes and enjoyed playing pinochle, reading and doing crosswords. She was an avid collector of owls and proudly displayed them. She enjoyed being visited by and visiting family and friends. Betty continued to participate in activities while in the Health Center and was president of the residents’ association of the Health Center. She lived a long and full life and will be truly missed by her family and friends. A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, October 15th from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Harrogate Assisted Living, 400 Locust Street, Lakewood, NJ. Please join family and friends for light refreshments, punch and treasured stories of Betty, as we honor her long lived life and large family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society, an organization Betty supported, as a devout animal lover.
