I was a new Latin teacher, serving under Ed from mid-January 1990 till the end of the school year 1991. Things didn't work out for me in Wayne and I went first to Millville for three years, ending up a tenured teacher, finding a home, finally, in Jersey City, as a Social Studies teacher.

Ed was a great mentor, like a big brother. I was former military myself, U.S. Army paratrooper, 1973-1976, so Ed and I hit it off that way right from the start. I stayed in touch while at Millville, and again for awhile anyways, when I went to Jersey City. We met at New Jersey Junior Classical League conventions as I recall, Our students competed against one another, I'm sure, in some of the competitions. What wonderful memories those were.  Ed as a lovable guy but a strict taskmaster. I learned something about discipline and preparedness from Ed that I have never forgotten. I believe I may see this great man in Heaven again one day. I look forward to it. We can then catch up on some lost time. I'll never forget how Ed had won the lottery before I met him. He had a different color car almost for every day of the week. One of the students' favorite activities was to see which car "Mr. G." was driving that day. God bless the family. My condolences to you all. p.s. I only taught for ten years, got a small pension out of the deal, and ended up returning to Wisconsin to be closer to family. I thus taught in New Jersey from 1990 to 2000. 

I just learned of Ed's passing. My condolences to all who loved him. He always remained so calm in dealing with the day to day bumps in the road in a school setting. I admired that about him.  He was always a genteman.

It is a stunning sad news to learn about Ed's passing and to learn it so very late this morning Jan.26, 2016. Ed was one of the most modest, unassuming,
brilliant colleague I have ever met. He was an excellent teacher, chairman of the language department for decades, a colonel in the US Army and a wonderful person. His passing is a great loss to all of us who knew him for such a long time. We will miss him.

I worked as a Soanish Teacher under the supervision of Ed! He was a wonderful man with an infectious and very dry sense of humor! I am sending my sincere condolences to Pauline and Ed's entire family! He was a special guy who was loved by his students and colleagues alike. May he rest in peace......

Mr. G. Was an amazing teacher and influence.  He taught with humor and love, a perfect combination.   He will be missed.

My heart goes out to Pauline & the Galbierczyk family.  Mr. G was truly one in a million.  He was a scholar, a gentleman, & one of the best people I've ever known.  He was a teacher who became a treasured friend.  I'll always remember the Roman Banquets & the trips to the Latin conventions.  I think of him every year when "O Come All Ye Faithful" is played, how he'd be singing it in Latin in the hallways of Wayne Valley.  He is really going to be missed!

So sorry to get this news.  Mr. Galbierczyk was truly one of the most memorable teachers from Wayne Valley High School.

Mr. G was the absolute best.  Very sorry to hear of his passing.

I am beyond heartsick to hear of my uncle's passing in this manner.  My deepest sympathies to his acknowledged family members.

Eddie was always someone special. A bit weird growing up with him but always very generous and full of antedotes.
