Born in the Bronx, New York, he lived in Jackson and Lakewood for most of his life. Ed had worked as a heavy equipment truck driver for many years and retired from T&L Company in Lakewood, N.J. handling medical transports.
Ed loved fishing and crabbing, trips to Atlantic City, flea markets, old cars, and cruises. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Edward and Anna Fritz McCartney and was a brother of the late Timothy McCartney.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara McCartney, his daughters, Ann Marie McCartney, Marta Rodriguez, Tara Marchitto, Tina Krause, and Shannon Taylor, two sisters, Irene Cilino and Anne Yates, and six grandchildren; Mikie Milici, Heather Milici, Orlando Rodriguez, Jack Santos, Ryan McCartney, and Emma Martelli.
Relatives and friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20th at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, N.J. Cremation will be private.
