Edward Roger Myer, 78, of New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Harmony Village in Jackson, NJ. He was born on April 2, 1948, in Newark, NJ, to Henry and Florence Myer, and lived most of his life in his childhood home in Union, NJ, spending his final seven years in Toms River.
Edward graduated from Union High School in 1966 and married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Patricia, in 1969. Together they built a life centered on their faith and family.
He worked hard in his jobs with IBM, Kodak, Danka, and Konica-Minolta, where he was known for his diligence and character.
A man of many talents, He was a gifted woodworker, an avid gardener, and a fixer who knew something about everything. In recent years, he found great joy in restoring two cottages at the
Wyoming Campground Association, a labor of love that reflected both his craftsmanship and his love of repairing things.
His greatest love was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; his sons and daughters-in-love: Erik (Carrie) and Keith (Nancy); and his cherished grandchildren: Sam, Jack, Max, Julianne, Nathan, Noah, Hank, and Lily. He was predeceased by his brother, Walter “Butch” Myer. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Ciccone.
He also served faithfully in his community, including serving as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Union, a board member of the Wyoming Camp Meeting Association, and Treasurer of NJNet.
In all these roles, his servant’s heart left a lasting impact.
His life was a gift to all who knew him. He was a steady and faithful presence, holding together and strengthening those around him - a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and
faithful friend. He lived out the call of Scripture: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward”(Colossians 3:23–24). His life made a lasting difference, and as we grieve, we do not grieve without hope, for “since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep” (1 Thessalonians 4:13–14).
We look forward in hope to seeing him again.
A public memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Redeemer Church, 1644 N Bay Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Ascend Hospice, Suite 206, 77 Brant Avenue, Clark, NJ 07066, in memory of Edward Myer.
