

Born in Weehawken, NJ, he was a resident of Brick since 1960. Edward was employed by the US Post Office in Brick and retiried after 34 years of service. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in Japan. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a lover of Naval history and was previously published in magazines for articles relating to German U-Boats of WWII. He was an avid fisherman. Edward was a talented musician who played guitar for the Reale Brothers and the Shoremen. He is survived by Jacquelin Rumpf, his wife of 57 years; three children, Barbara Ann Makatenas, Edward J. Rumpf and his wife Francine, Nancy Dixon; 7 grandchildren, Barret , Karl , Mark , Gabrielle, Eddie, Andrew, Alec, and three sisters, June Robinson, Susan Fee, and Diane Craparo. He was predeceased by his brother Paul Rumpf . Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral service will be Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home Cremation will be private and at the convenience of the family.
