Fredrick Dennis, Jr., age 68, of West New York, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Fredrick was born March 12, 1953 in Lakewood, NJ to Dorothy Dennis and Fredrick Dennis. He was raised in Lakewood and attended St. Mary's Academy and St. Joseph's High School. He later earned a Bachelor's Degree from Empire State College and later attended additional studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. He went on to become the senior curator of costume for the Museum at F.I.T. and worked on over a hundred exhibitions. Fred was an integral member of the MFIT team for more than 35 years and knew the collection better than anyone. He was co-curator of London Fashion (2001-2002) and Award winning exhibition A Queer History of Fashion: From the Closet to the Catwalk (2013) (both at The Museum at F.I.T.) and Toledo/Toledo: Full Circle at the Museum of Art and Design at Miami Dade College, among others. He had previously worked with Richard Martin and Harold Koda on the 1991 exhibition Halston: Absolute Modernism. Fred was an avid reader, food enthusiast, and had an encyclopedic knowledge of fashion. He will be missed by those fortunate to have known him. Fredrick was the son of the late Dorothy and Fredrick Dennis; brother of the late Traci Dennis; brother-in-law of the late Elizabeth Tasker; and Uncle of the late Scott Galanos. Fredrick is survived by his brothers Michael K. Dennis (Patricia) and Albert Joseph Tasker, III; a nephew, Albert Tasker, IV., a niece, Nadine Nicoll (William), a niece, Nicole Marzocca (Michael), a nephew, Michael Dennis, Jr. (Katie), a niece, Kate Sweeney and a niece, Kristen Yelenosky (Devon). Also surviving are many great-nieces and great-nephews, along with other extended relatives. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date, please revisit this website to gather details in the future. Cremation was private.
