Jerry Vogel, age 80, passed suddenly on Saturday morning, January 28, 2017. Jerry grew up in the Bronx, New York and loved frequenting plays and museums. He could always be found with a book in his hand. Jerry loved all sports especially basketball. He played ball for DeWitt Clinton, where he earned a scholarship to play at the University of Alabama. He continued to play full court basketball well into his 70’s. He loved to work and continued to do so up until the day of his death. He was an exceptional business man whose life’s focus was helping others achieve career success. Jerry was an avid sailor, skier, and world traveler. He was an incredible compassionate father, awesome uncle and beloved friend to all. His smile lit up every room, and everyone. Jerry had a love for cars and motorcycles, unfortunately they weren’t dent or scratch proof. Jerry was a devoted husband and father to his spouse Denise and their two beautiful children, Matthew and Tara. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who knew him. To celebrate and honor his life, a funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11:00AM at D’Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 and Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. Please join us in continuing the celebration of Jerry’s life immediately following the service at 18 Mistletoe Court, Howell, NJ as well as on Thursday night at 6 pm.
