

Gilda M. Martoglio, age 86, of Manchester, New Jersey passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 31, 2021. Gilda, known as “Gil”, was born in Jersey City, NJ, raised in Lyndhurst and recently has settled in Manchester, NJ. Gilda is a graduate of Columbia University, where she obtained her master’s degree in Nursing. Gilda held various positions in the nursing field. She worked in Brazil with the Papal Volunteers. She served on the US Ship Hope. She also served as an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University. She enlisted with the US Public Health Service where she served and retired after 20 years as a Captain.
Along with volunteering with various hospice organizations in NJ, she was an avid gardener and loved her flowers. She was a loving sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed by all. Gilda is predeceased by her parents Mary and John Martoglio and sister, Doris Pizza. Gilda is survived by her sisters, Marion Harris of Manchester, NJ, Frances Babineau and her husband Ray of Denver, NC., Joan Perini of Chatham, NY, and Norma Linzalone of Tinton Falls, NJ. She also was loved by numerous nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of the D'Elia Funeral Home 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, N. Arlington, NJ will be held privately. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Gilda's memory to the Parkinson's Movement Disorder Alliance or the Dove Hospice Services of Freehold, NJ.
