

Helen Elizabeth Hope, age 99, of Lakewood, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, NJ. Born in Lakewood, NJ on May 19, 1912, Helen was a former resident of Lakewood, Spring Lake, and Manasquan, NJ before relocating to Florida where she spent 15 years. She returned to Lakewood over 20 years ago has resided there ever since. Helen was a former employee of Lincoln Transit Company in Lakewood and McCrory’s Department Store in Florida. Daughter of the late Dora (Matthews) and Sylvester Gurley; she was predeceased by her two husbands Leroy Estelle and Frank Harmer Hope; and her late siblings, Mildred, Raymond and Melvin. Helen is survived by her son, Donald R. Estelle and his wife Carol of Toms River; two grandchildren, Laurie and Dawn Estelle; three step-grandchildren, Denise Gorga, Dawn (Gorga) Dallen, and Michael Gorga; three step great-grandchildren, Tyler, Erica, and Gianni; a brother, Robert (Bud) Gurley and his wife Edie and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 2 to 4p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 & Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Her funeral service will 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Lakewood, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be made ARC of Ocean County, 815 Cedar Bridge Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701-4933.
