

He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Eileen Galyas (Malone).
He is also survived by three sons: Joseph Anthony Galyas, Kevin Michael Galyas and James Lawrence Galyas. Three daughters in laws Erryn Harrington, Chris Anne Lindley and Susan Galyas.
He had seven grandchildren which he loved with all his heart. Survived by one brother Robert Galyas and deceased brother Tom Galyas and sister Carol Strong along with his parents Gabriel Galyas and Theodora Galyas (Savalak) waiting for him in heaven.
An avid bird watcher, he loved spending his time at Great Kills Park and various locations throughout NJ.
He was a United States Marine who was always proud of his country. He retired from the NYC Transit Police in 1986 and then retired from the US Postal Service in the late 90’s.
In lieu of flowers donations in Jim's name can be sent to Toys for Tots, his favorite charity.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at D'Elia Funeral Home; 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701
A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, May 8th at 10:30 am at St. Lukes; 1674 Old Freehold Rd, Toms River, NJ 08755. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery; 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
