

James R. Harrigan, age 85, of Forked River, NJ, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. James was born January 19, 1936 in Elizabeth, NJ. He is the son of Elizabeth and James Harrigan.
James was a retired union Welding Mechanic with the Metro ILA. He was an Air Force veteran and a volunteer for the Lakewood Township Fire Department, Reliance Hose Company #4. Mr. Harrigan was a member of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus of Brick, NJ. He was an avid animal lover, bowler, swimmer and enjoyed the outdoors. James was a communicant of St. Mary of Lake of Lakewood, NJ. Mr. Harrigan was a talented wood worker, making all the family outdoor holiday decorations. He was known for his cooking and loved spending time with his loving family and friends, especially around the holidays. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle and will be greatly missed by all.
Husband of the late Frances Harrigan, he is survived by his daughters, Jamie Lubsen and her husband Michael and Darlene Antico and her husband Leonard; a brother Howard Harrigan; 2 sisters, Eileen Garger and Barbara Deckard; 4 grandchildren, Leonard Antico and his wife Katelyn, Richard Antico and his wife Samantha, Michael Lubsen, Jr. and his wife Amy, and Veronica Lubsen; and 6 great-grandchildren, Brianna, Leo, Elizabeth, Amelia, Carter and Charlotte.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish-St. Mary of the Lake Church, 43 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. Committal services will follow in the parish mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
