Jason Gniazdowski, a devoted father, beloved son, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). He was 45 years old.
Born on June 28, 1980, Jason was a lifelong resident of Bayonne, New Jersey. An active and talented athlete, he graduated from Bayonne High School. Jason began his career working for the New Jersey Turnpike before transitioning to a role in juvenile corrections, where he found purpose in helping young people. Unfortunately, his career was cut short when he was diagnosed with MS, forcing him into permanent leave.
Jason lived with profound empathy, having witnessed the devastating effects of MS when he lost his brother, Jimmy, to the disease. Rather than succumbing to despair, Jason made a conscious decision to embrace the reality of his condition and focus on the joy and time he had with his loved ones. He chose to live around the disease, not within it.
His greatest source of pride and happiness was his daughter, Allyssa.
Jason was a man of simple pleasures and deep passions. He was an avid bowler and was thrilled to have rolled a few perfect games over the years. He also loved the tranquility of fishing, whether casting a line from a pier or a boat. A true New Jersey sports fan, he endured many seasons of heartbreak following his beloved and often frustrating Jets and Mets.
Jason is survived by his adored daughter; Allyssa; his loving mother; Barbara (Philip McClain), & dear father; John (Michelle Kriszten). His grandmother; Evelyn Gniazdowski, his cherished sister; Jennifer Hemmah, his beloved fiancé; Rosanna Murrar. As well as his aunts; Marybeth (Robert) Sawchuk and Ellen (Ray) Law; and his uncle; Mark (Virginia) Gniazdowski. He also leaves behind a large extended family of cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends who cherished him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his brother; Jimmy; his grandparents; Pauline (née Lindquist) & Edward Jaworski and Stanley Gniazdowski.
Jason's quiet strength, sense of humor, and unwavering focus on the positive moments in life will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Visitation well be on Monday, October 20th, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at D'Elia Funeral Home; 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
