

Jean Neglia Lombardo passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 2014 in Brick, NJ. She was 92 years old. Relatives and friends are invited to visit D'Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 and Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ, 732-363-1987, on Sunday Jan. 12, 2014, from 2 PM to 4 PM, and 7 PM to 9 PM. A memorial mass will take place on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at 9:15 AM at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, 1674 Old Freehold Rd., Toms River, NJ. Internment will follow at St. Mary's of the Lake Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Road, Lakewood, NJ.
Jean was born in Manhattan, New York City, on August 21, 1921, the second of five children. She was married at age 17 to Joseph Lombardo, of Hackensack NJ, for 68 years, until his passing in 2007. She lived in Hackensack and Oradell, NJ until 2002, then moved to Lakewood and Toms River, NJ.
Jean was a bookkeeper and office manager for the Bergen County office of the Boy Scouts of America for 40 years, retiring in 1986. She had a second career working in the Law office of Kenneth Wind, Ridgefield, NJ, retiring again to care for her husband, in 1994. Jean loved her career and her coworkers. Her pleasant personality and dignified demeanor made her many lifelong friends. She was a member of Catholic churches wherever she lived. She enjoyed needlework, and was an accomplished seamstress. She especially enjoyed popular music of the 40's and 50's. She loved to sing along with the likes of Dean Martin, Patti Page, and Rosemary Clooney. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit her children, when they were living in far off places like Texas, and Germany.
Jean is survived by her son, Dr. Richard Lombardo and his wife Regine, of Byram Twp., NJ, her daughter Jean Olszak and her husband Daniel, of Toms River, NJ, her brother Peter Neglia and wife Diane, of Commack, NY, grandchildren, Christopher Olszak and his wife Sara, of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, Ingrid Lombardo McCoy and her husband Ryan of Falls Church, VA, great grandchildren Sam and Kate Olszak, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff and nurses of Shorrock Gardens in Brick, NJ for their excellent care for the last three years, and Community Medical Center Van Dyke Hospice nurses and staff for their compassion.
