Jeff was born in Brooklyn NY to Seymour and Laura Herman and moved with his family to Hazlet NJ when he was 9 years old. He attended Raritan High School where he played football and ran track. He continued to do the same at Yankton College in South Dakota and made many lasting friendships along the way.
Jeff had a 31 year career at Fort Monmouth with the Department of Defense where he was Deputy Director of Support Services at the CECOM Software Engineering Center.
In 2006, he and his wife Karen, of 45 years, moved to Ocean Gate NJ where they were welcomed into the most amazing community.
Jeff was a man of few words and great wit.
He is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Rebekkah Hunkele (Bill), son Adam Herman (Lindsay) and grandchildren Laylah, Lance, Jaxon and Atticus. Jeff also leaves behind his brother Mark (Elaine), sisters Susan Schwartz (Richard) and Ellen Mieras(Doug) along with many nieces, nephews and beloved family members.

A funeral service for Jeffrey will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Funeral Chapels, 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Toms River Jewish Cemetery, Witty Rd, Toms River, NJ 08755.
The family will be sitting shiva on Friday 1/12 from 12pm-3pm and Saturday 1/13 from 6pm-8pm.
