Jerome Manganello, age 78, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014, peacefully at his residence. He was a resident of Toms River for the last 35 years. Jerome was born on August 13, 1936 in Wilkes Barre, PA, and was the son of the late Mary and George Manganello. Jerome was a retired educator. He taught for 4 years in Manchester Township before his 25 years in the Lakewood public school system. He also operated his own wall paper hanging business and was a certified NJ Auctioneer. As an avid historian, Jerome enjoyed visiting various battlefields of the American Revolution and the Civil War, and he loved visiting Ireland. Jerome was a “people person,’ and will be dearly missed by those who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Shirley McClelland-Manganello; a step-daughter, Sheryl Trester; and a grandson, Ryan Trester. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9:00 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. A eulogy will be offered at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Ocean County Memorial Park privately at a later date.
