

Born in Jersey City, she resided in Newark before finally settling in Lakewood.
Prior to retiring, she was a Clerk in the mayor’s office for the city of Newark, where she worked for 12 years.
A member of the Rosary Society, Joan was a very devout Catholic and was very involved with Our Lady of Good Counsel in Newark. She believed in the power of prayer and nurtured and cared for others her whole life. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she strived to keep her family close and will be dearly missed.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Walter; her grandson, Brian; and her sister, Lorraine.
Surviving are her children: Sophie (Al) Lendino of St. Augustine, FL, Dianne (Dennis) O’Keefe of Fernandina Beach, FL, Helen Wisner of Toms River, Andrea (Glen) Roselle of West Caldwell, Patricia (James) Johnson of Toms River, Nadine (Michael) Behre of Mt. Olive, Peter (Sharon) Sushko of Bridgewater, and Bernadette (John) McGuinness of Wall; 15 grandchildren: Brent, Kathryn, Ashley, Christopher, William, James, Laura, Daniel, Michael, Cody, Patrick, Gabriella, Lorenzo, Theresa & Phillip; a great-granddaughter, Hanna Rose; and a sister, Marion.
Visitation will be held at D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, on Wednesday from 1-3 & 6-8PM.
