

John DeMillio, age 85, of Toms River, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. John was born in Long Island City, New York on February 17, 1937 as the son of Mary (Costanzo) and Michael DeMillio. John was a resident of Point Pleasant for 37 years until relocating to the Lake Ridge section of Toms River 17 years ago. He was active in his community organizations including, the Wine Club, the Italian Club, the Bowling League, and he also delivered "Meals on Wheels." He was a US Navy Veteran. John was a retired bartender, known affectionately as "Johnny VO," who served many visitors to the Jersey Shore and Hunter Mountain establishments. John is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Susan (Ruhl) DeMillio; their children, John DeMillio and his wife Danielle, and Dana Walsh and her husband Douglas Sr.; a brother, Michael DeMillio and his wife Janet; five grandchildren, A.J. DeMillio, Connor Hilliard, Caitlin Hilliard, Grace Walsh and Douglas Walsh, Jr.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. John was predeceased by a brother Theodore. Relatives and friends will be received at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in St. Luke's Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. John will be laid to rest in BG William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Bank at St. Luke Church.
