Born in New York City on March 15, 1936, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Corey) Donohue.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rosemary, whose memory remained a guiding light throughout his life. He is survived by his three sons: Michael, Thomas and his wife Katherine, James and his wife Caroline; two grandchildren: Connor & Reagan; sister and brother-in-law Theresa and Patrick Galvin, sister-in-law Mary Donohue, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was also predeceased by his sister, Sister Mary Ellen Donohue, SUSC, and his brothers Michael, Frank, and Father James Donohue, CSC.
Born in the Bronx and raised in Manhattan, NY, he spent his youth in the parish of St. Francis de Sales on the Upper East Side. He was a Knight of Columbus and a proud United States Army veteran. After leaving the Army, he worked for 20 years for the A & P grocery store chain. After marrying, he moved to Queens Village, NY to raise his family. He spent almost 30 years there as a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes before moving to Floral Park, NY for four years in the parish of Our Lady of Victory.
He and his wife relocated to Lakewood 22 years ago. He actively enjoyed his years in his new community, as a member of the Men Club, Sailing Club, Audio Visual Club, and Bocci League. For many years, he also enjoyed working as a ticket taker for the Lakewood Blue Claws. He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Lake RC Church, Lakewood, and was also a frequent volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Society food pantry. He will be dearly missed.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 1, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of the Lake RC Church; 43 Madison Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701. Cremation will be private.
