John E. Eggers

John and his beloved wife Janet were lifelong residents of Jersey City before settling in Lakewood, NJ.

John proudly served his country in World War II in the Navy and after he chose to continue to protect and serve; becoming a Jersey City Police Officer for 34 years. He deservingly retired in 1986.

John is survived by his devoted daughter Tracey Stankunas, His grandson Jack Stankunas and many dear friends. John was predeceased by his beloved wife Janet they were married for 64 years and his granddaughter Samantha Sullivan.

John will be remembered for his impressive gardening skills, his generosity and his willingness to always help anyone in need.

A Memorial Service for John will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 12 PM to 2PM & 4PM - 6PM at D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701. A funeral home service will begin at 4:30pm.
