Born in Manhattan, he and his wife resided in Aberdeen, where they raised their children, before settling in Lakewood 20 years ago. John was a veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Catherine in 2009.
He is survived by 4 children: Thomas Pichl and his wife, Doreen, Michael Pichl, Jean Santry and Denise Pichl; and 3 grandchildren: Danielle, Nicole & Jessica.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 7 to 9p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Church, 43 Madison Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
