John J. Walsh

John J. Walsh, age 84, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. John was born on December 30, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY and he was the son of the late Lester and Catherine Walsh. John was raised in Brooklyn, NY, and was a longtime resident of Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, before moving to Toms River, NJ 21 years ago. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War, having served upon the USS Randall. He led his shipmates annual reunion and was a member of the VFW Post 123 in Ridgewood, NY. John was a NYC Transit bus driver and retired after nearly 30 years of service. Brother of the late Thomas Walsh; he is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Patricia Walsh; three daughters, Diane Walsh and her companion John Miller, Donna Walsh, and Kelly Principe and her husband Anthony; two grandsons, Brian and Nicholas Principe. Visitation will be on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral service will immediately follow at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
