José Manuel Rodriguez, 79, of Toms River, New Jersey, formerly of Fort Lee, passed away on October 22, 2026.
Born in Banes, Cuba, in 1947, José was the son of Manuel and Ana Rodriguez. Raised alongside his sisters, Ani and Martha, he immigrated to the United States with his family as a young teenager in the early 1960s. José was actively involved in the Fort Lee community, coaching Little League baseball and volunteering with the Jr. Bridgemen youth football program. Whether helping with transportation, concessions, or the scoreboard, he was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed supporting his sons at their sporting events and developed lasting friendships with families throughout the community.
Outgoing, friendly, and respectful, José loved spending time with family and friends. Proud of his Cuban heritage, he enjoyed salsa dancing, hosting barbecues, and sharing a Cuban cigar or cold beer in good company. An avid sports fan, he loved golf and cheering for the New York Mets, Giants, and Knicks.
Following retirement, José and his wife, Myrna, settled in Toms River, where he enjoyed his later years, formed meaningful friendships, and embraced his community.
