

Joseph M. Hegedus, 82, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A longtime resident of Lakewood, NJ, Joseph lived a full life marked by devotion, hard work, and unwavering strength.
Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Arlene, and his brother Bert. He is survived by his sister Alberta Molnar; his devoted son Michael and daughter-in-law Melissa; his cherished grandchildren Gabriel and Violet; and many extended family members and friends.
Throughout Joseph's life he was devoted to his faith, he spent many years as an altar boy at St. James Church in Woodbridge, NJ.
He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army, where he earned the Bronze Star for his bravery and dedication. His service remained a point of deep pride throughout his life.
Known as one of the hardest-working people you could ever meet, Joseph built a remarkable career. Through perseverance and determination, he rose to become the Director of Operations at the News Tribune, a role he took great pride in before retiring.
Outside of work, Joseph found joy in the outdoors—especially hunting and fishing—and treasured every moment spent with his family, who were the center of his world.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 4:00pm -8:00pm at D'Elia Funeral Home; 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701. A Funeral Mass will take place on December 4, at 12:00pm at St. Mary of the Lake Church; 43 Madison Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
