Joseph Kohout

LAKEWOOD – Joseph S. Kohout died Friday, August 2, 2013 at Atlantic Coast Nursing Home. He was 74.

Born in Newark, he was a long time resident of Cliffside Park before settling in Lakewood 6 years ago.

Prior to retiring in 2001, he was a salesman at Hunts Point Market in the Bronx.

Mr. Kohout was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served from 1956-1960. He was also a Captain in the Fairview Emergency Response Unit for several years.

Surviving is his loving wife of 51 years, Angela; 3 sons: Joseph and his wife Paew, Michael, and Dominick; granddaughter, Angela, brothers, Bernard and Richard, sisters, Eileen and Shirley and many neices and nephews.

A private cremation was directed under D’Elia Funeral Home, Rte. 70 & Vermont Ave. Interment at the NJ Veterans Cemetery will be held at a later date. For more information, or to post a tribute online, please visit

Dear Angela, I just read the CP newspaper, and felt so bad about your hubby!!! We are so sorry and I have such fond memories of you subbing for me in CP and then time goes by and we did not keep up.
