Joseph Anthony Soprano

Joseph Anthony Soprano, age 89, of the Silver Ridge section of Berkeley Township passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015, at his residence. Joseph was born in Newark, NJ on August 15, 1926, and he was the son of the late Virginia and Samuel Soprano. He was a resident of Kenilworth, NJ for 40 years before moving to Ocean County 23 years ago. Joseph was a veteran of the US Army. He was a retired machinist who served PSE&G for 35 years in Springfield, NJ. Husband of the late Anne Barile Soprano who passed in 2012, father-in-law of the late Stan Shoffel who passed in 2002, and brother of the late Samuel Soprano. Joseph is survived by his three children, Sam Soprano and his wife Anne of Jackson, NJ, Joseph Soprano of Port Orange, FL, and Joanne Soprano Shoffel of Howell, NJ; a sister, Josephine Barbella; and five grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica, Tara, Marissa, and Samantha. His family would like to give special thanks to Petr Musil, Joe’s friend and caregiver for the past 26 months. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the BG William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
