Jovita Lara Hastings

Jovita was raised in the U.S. & attended all schooling in Chicago, Illinois. After moving to New York City, she worked in all secretarial capacities and finally as a legal secretary, Brooklyn, NY.

She met her husband Austin M Hastings, and were parents of six children; Jovita M. Francis, Maria T. Cruz, Austin M. Hastings (deceased), Joseph C. Hastings, Emily A. Figueroa, and Rose H. Bishop.

She lived in New Jersey since 1995 and enjoyed reading, family trips to the museums and the theater. A lover of music, she sang in choirs, holiday festivities, a local Chicago radio station and into her golden years.

She is the grandmother to 13, a great grandmother to 15, and a great, great grandmother to 4 children. In her final years she would bless those who cared for her.

A visitation for Jovita will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Friday, July 21, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. A Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted Thursday, July 21, 2022 at10:30 AM in the St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, One Honey Locust Dr, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
