Judy was born in Rahway, NJ and was the cherished only daughter of the late Frank J. and Ethel M. Ungvary. Judy was also predeceased by her beloved brother, James F. Ungvary of Casselberry, FL. She was raised in Woodbridge, NJ and spent many years in her hometown where she was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church.
Judy was a lifelong resident of NJ and dedicated much of her time and service to the Garden State. She worked as a legal secretary at the Middlesex County Courthouse in New Brunswick and later for the State Commision of Investigation in Trenton before her retirement.
Judy was known for her wit, sense of humor and she wore her heart proudly on her sleeve. She was a caring, trusted and devoted friend and will be greatly missed by many. She was steadfast in her friendships and especially compassionate to those going through challenging times.
Judy’s favorite thing in addition to spending time with her family and friends, was going to the beach. She was able to realize her lifelong dream of living close to the ocean, first in the Highlands and then in Brick, NJ. Her grandchildren have many wonderful memories of spending time with her on the beach during the summer at “Camp Grandma”. She also was an avid lover of mystery novels, tending to her garden flowers, and the color purple.
Judy was the devoted, loving mother of Jean Coleman of Harvey Cedars, NJ, and loving grandmother to Allison Smith (Cornelius Pollock) of Denver, CO and Graham Smith of Philadelphia, PA. She is also survived by her niece (Pamela Ungvary) and nephew (Mark Ungvary). Judy fully embraced her role of mother and grandmother and brightened up every time she spoke of her daughter and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be scheduled in the near future. For those who desire, memorial contributions in her name can be made to Clean Ocean Action (https://cleanoceanaction.org/donate) or Elijah’s Promise (https://elijahspromise.org/donate/)
