Lenore Weidenbaum Stathis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, just weeks before her 90th birthday. Born on July 17, 1936, in the Bronx, New York, Lenore lived a life defined by strength, resilience, devotion to family, and enduring friendships.
Lenore was the cherished wife of George Stathis for 55 years. Together they built a life centered on love, commitment, and family. She was a devoted mother to Steven and Andrew Chase and Lisa Chenofsky Singer, and a loving mother-in-law to Tom Singer. Nothing brought her greater joy than her role as grandmother to Jonas and Lev Singer and Michael and Jenna Chase, all of whom were a source of immense pride and happiness.
Known for her practical nature, determination, and strong will, Lenore approached life with quiet strength and perseverance. She believed in showing up for the people she loved, offering support, advice, and care. Her family was always at the center of her life, and she created a legacy of love that will continue through the generations she helped shape.
Lenore treasured her many friendships and particularly enjoyed playing Mahjong. Those who sat around the table with her knew that she brought the same spirit, focus, and determination to the game that she brought to every aspect of her life. For Lenore, Mahjong was an opportunity for connection, laughter, friendship, and community.
Family relationships meant everything to Lenore. She shared a special bond with her sisters-in-law, Joni and Dori Stathis, whom she loved dearly. Their relationship was marked by affection, support, and the many memories they created together over the years.
Though her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who loved her, her memory will continue to live on in the values she instilled, the traditions she nurtured, and the lives she touched.
Lenore is survived by her husband, George; her children, Steven (Randy), Andrew (Debbie), and Lisa (Tom); her grandchildren, Jonas and Lev Singer (Cameron), Michael (Meredith) and Jenna Chase, and Jacob, David, and Mariel Chase; her beloved sisters-in-law, Joni and Dori Stathis; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
The family finds comfort in the memories they shared and in the lasting impact of a life well lived.
May her memory forever be a blessing.
A Committal Service will be held at Ocean County Memorial Park Association, Silverton Rd, Toms River, NJ 08753, US, on June 4, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
