Leonarda Arroyo passed away Sunday, September 8th, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. She was born 91 years ago in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico where she grew up before meeting her late husband, Virgilio Arroyo, and moving to Lakewood, N.J. in 1955. Leonarda was a parishioner and founder of St. Anthony Church in Lakewood. She was a very active member of the church as well as the member of the Sacred Heart and former minister of the Eucharist. Leonarda was also involved with the Cursillistas proceeded by her late husband whom she now rests peacefully with.
Surviving Leonarda are her four loving children, Rigoberto Arroyo, Maria McCarter, Virginia and Timothy Floyd, and Arcangel Miguel & Latonya Arroyo. She will also be missed by her eight grandchildren; Thomas Jose, Andrew Virgilio, Timothy Charles Jr., Christina Leonarda, Tyler Miguel, Arcangel Miguel Jr., Gabriel Joaquin, Tristan Joel and three great-grandchildren, Mia Stella, Jayden Anthony, and Noah James.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood.

Remembering my godmother with lots of love. She was a caring, loving, genuinely kind woman, who loved God, her family and her church. Now she is reunited with my loving Godfather.
