

Lorenzo “PAPA” Allen , 94 of Lakewood died Sunday, Oct. 30th at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin. He worked for the Jamaica Library Service, Kingston, Jamaica for more than 30 years retiring in 1987. He also worked as a painting contractor. He was a member of the Blue Ribbon Lodge, in Kingston and attended Almond Town Church of God. Born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, he lived in Kingston for many years before moving to Lakewood 29 year ago.
His wife, Agnes, died 24 years ago and his daughter Eleanor died in 2014. Surviving are 5 sons and a daughter-in-law, Stanford, Alton and Martel, all of Jamaica, Robert, Georgia and Denton and Lakesha of Texas; 7 daughters and sons-in-law, Sonia Allen-Copes and Tommy, Barnegat, Veta and Paris Campbell, Gracelin and Hopeton Dunkley, and Eva all of Lakewood, Marva, Jackson, Andrea and Claude Gauthier, Matawan, and Arlene, Tampa, FL; 3 sisters, Isolyn White and Esmie Wint, both of Florida, and Imogene Marriott, Canada; a sister-in-law, Olive Callender, Lakewood; 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Friday, November 4th 2-4 & 7-9 PM at D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, and Saturday, November 5th 8:30-9:30 am at Macedonia Baptist Church, 143 John St, Lakewood. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 9:30 am at the church. Interment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. D’Elia Funeral Home, Lakewood, is in charge of arrangements.
