Loretta Ann McGrady (McGilloway) was born in Plains, Pennsylvania on February 7, 1944 to Loretta and Joseph McGrady. She was the youngest of five children, the only daughter, and she attended Sacred Heart School.
In her teens and early 20's she worked for Financial Institutions, most notably, the Industrial Loan Corporation beginning in 1963. Later she was employed as the secretary of the Saint Jerome's grade school in Hyattsville Maryland, holding that position for 11 years before deciding to remain at home to focus on her children and family. She was a dedicated volunteer advocate for victims of Domestic Violence, and the women and children affected by violence, spending countless hours assisting with operations at Providence House, a division of Catholic Charities. Loretta especially loved her Friday lunches with "The Girls" and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was married to her husband James V. McGilloway of Miners Mills Pennsylvania on December 26, 1965. She is survived by her husband James V. and their three children and their spouses: son James T. and his wife Jennifer, son Mark and his wife Leslie, daughter Maureen and her husband Mark McCarthy and their three children, Loretta's much loved grandchildren, Madison, Mark and Morgan.
Loretta and Jim were married for 56 years. She was a devoted partner, mother and friend who will be truly missed and never forgotten.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, services will be private. A Mass celebrating Loretta's life will be held at a later date.
