Lorraine Jones

Lorraine H. Jones, 71, passed away April 27, 2011 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Mrs. Jones was born in the Lower East Side of New York City. She was the ninth of four brothers and five sisters. She was a resident of Lakewood for the past 43 years where she raised her family. Lorraine was the head cook at Lakewood High School and the Food Service Manager at Georgian Court University for many years. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Lake Church in Lakewood where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Lorraine was also very active in the Irish Clubs through Georgian Court University. She was a loving mother, grandmother and step grandmother and will be greatly missed by all. Mrs. Jones is predeceased by her husband William J. Jones Sr. in 2009. Lorraine is survived by her three children, William “Biff” Jones Jr. and his wife Anita of Bayville, NJ; Peter Jones and his wife Jennifer of Lexington, SC; and Lorraine Straube and her husband Lee of North East, MD; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Matthew, Sean, Ryan, and Brittany; and four step-grandchildren, Lee, Tyler, Holly and Travis. Friends may call Friday, April 29, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the D’Elia Funeral Home Rt. 70 & Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Noon at St. Mary of the Lake Church in Lakewood. Entombment will take place at St. Mary of the Lake Mausoleum in Lakewood.
