M. Joan Brandt

M. Joan Brandt, 79, of Lakewood, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012, at Center for Hope Hospice, Scotch Plains, NJ. Born in Lakewood, she was a lifelong resident of Lakewood. Mrs. Brandt worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Chadwick Automotive and Lombardi Bros. Chrysler Plymouth. She was, most importantly, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, all of which brought her the utmost joy in her life.

Predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Edwin R. Brandt, on May 4, 2011, and her son, Edwin S. Brandt, in July 2010, she is survived by her daughter, Kathi Brandt-Donner and her husband Bruce of Berkeley Heights; a son, Neil Brandt and his wife Sandra of Wantage; 2 sisters, Connie DeBow of Elkton, MD and Gloria Hyslop of Lubbock, TX; five grandchildren, Lindsey, Brian, Jodi, Quinn and Matthew; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 8 and from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9 at the D’Elia Funeral Home, Rte. 70 & Vermont Avenue, Lakewood. Her funeral ceremony will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Edwin R.
